Return Date Announced for Traditional Character Meet and Greets

Disney World has undergone several changes since the July 2020 COVID closure, one of the changes that has still yet to return is traditionally meet and greets.  In October 2021 characters returned in a modified fashion, known as “sightings,” or interactions in which guests could once again meet with characters individually and take photos from a distance, with no hugging or autographs allowed. We were still very excited to be able to see our ol’ pal Mickey Mouse once again; however, the modification meets are just not the same. With the rapid changes with Disney World’s COVID policies, we like may guest shared the same question, if/when traditional Character Meet and Greets will return.

During the Q&A Session at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, & Telecom Conference, Senior Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of the Walt Disney Company Christine McCarthy stated that face-to-face meet-and-greets should be returning to Disney Parks “soon.”

For several families traveling to Disney World, character meet and greets are an important part of their vacation. If you’re one of those families, we have some exciting news traditional Character Meet and Greets are returning April 18th, 2022. That’s right friends, you can soon hug your favorite characters and get their autographs once again. We are pleased to hear this exciting news, and see the most magical place on Earth slowly return its entertainment and interactions that make this place truly magical.
