Universal Studios Orlando’s Newest Land: Illumination’s Minion Land
Hey Universal Park fans! As you all know, Universal is constantly changing, evolving, and bringing in the latest ride technology to provide their guest with a unique and exciting experience. To continue the progression, Universal is reimagining the entry area of Universal Studio to Illumination’s Minion Land! This land will provide much need family friendly attractions for the younger guest. Universal is starting to bring in more family friendly attractions in order to attract some Disney guest looking to try new locations for their vacation. Illumination’s Minion Land is now opened for phase one!
This new immersive land brings guest into the incredibly adorable world of illumination’s Despicable Me. This new land will offer new dining locations, shops, charter meet and greets, and of course ride/attractions! Let’s review what’s coming soon:

Illumination’s Minion Cafe
Mischief is always on the menu at Illumination’s Minion Café. The Minions are hard at work whipping up a variety of tasty dishes – while trying not to bring down the entire restaurant in the process. The menu will feature 20 items, with kid-friendly dishes to plant-based options, there’s something to please everyone in the travel party!

Bake My Day
This location will continue the adorable theming with Minion-themed sweet treats including cupcakes, brownies, macarons, and cookies. Guest can also find an assortment of souvenirs and apparel. Guest can already spot the very large cupcake topper of this new location!
Pop-A-Nana
Pop-A-Nana will be a Minion-inspired snack kiosk you can treat yourself to sweet or savory popcorn flavors. Of course, Minion Land would not be complete without some banana forward options. Banana popcorn is a special sweet option. We’re not sure how we will like banana flavored popcorn.. but we’re excited to try it! Freeze Ray Pops
Step up to this walk-up window and enjoy a blast of icy cold refreshments. They also have themed popsicles and cold beverages. This will be a very popular location during Florida’s summer months!

Illumination’s Theater
Minion Land’s unique meet and greet location lets you take photos with popular characters from Illumination’s films Despicable Me and Sing.
Evil Stuff
Every popular attraction needs a gift shop! At the exit of Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast you can shop for Minion and Villain-Con themed souvenirs, toys, apparel and more! I mean, who wouldn’t want to take their own E-Liminator X Blaster toy home?!
Rides and Attractions:
Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast
Blast your way to supervillain stardom in the new Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast attraction. Visit Illumination’s Minion Cafe where mischief is always on the menu. Get a sweet treat at Bake My Day and more. Opening Summer 2023.
Universal states that the attraction will be an “interactive, blaster game experience will invite guests to put their villainous skills to the test as they compete against each other in a bid to join the ranks of the franchise’s most infamous supervillains.”
This attraction will be very different than the other shooter ride in the park, MIB “The attraction will combine innovative screen technology, gaming interactivity, and elaborate physical sets to “create a one-of-a-kind, game-based adventure where guests encounter immersive environments, nefarious villains and tons of mischievous Minions from Illumination’s films in a whole new way.” Guest will be handed an interactive blaster and step onto a motion-based pathway. The goal will be to cause as much mayhem and destruction as possible, you’re joining the minions after all!
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem™
Staying in this land will be Despicable Me Minion Mayhem™. In this family friendly attraction, guest will join Gru, the gurls(girls but said like Gru), and the mischievous Minions on an unforgettable trip through Gru’s super villain laboratory. It’s a super cute attraction that often has a very long wait time!
Stay in a Despicable Me Kids' Suite at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel
If you would like to include even more Minions to you Universal vacation, consider the Despicable Me-themed room at Universal’s Portofino Bay Hotel! This 2-bedroom suite sleeps up to 5 (1 king bed and 2 twin beds). Available on a first-come, first-served basis. Additional charges apply for more than 2 adult guests per room.
