THE HOGWARTS EXPRESS IS CLOSED FOR UNEXPECTED MAINTENANCE AT UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT
Hey all you witches, wizards, and muggles out there! We have some big news for those of you visiting Universal Orlando this summer. According to Universal Orlando’s calendar, the Hogwarts Express will be closed for unexpected maintenance. If you’re planning on visiting the Wizarding World soon this may impact your trip. Our sources have informed us that the closure is due to a power outage on September 7th, 2022 that cause damage to the attraction. It appears that Universal Orlando is working on repairing the damage and waiting for replacement parts to arrive to get this beloved attraction running once more.
If you’re a muggle, you may not know what the Hogwarts Express is. Let us put this in muggle terms. The Hogwarts Express is a first-of-its-kind ride that links two parks in one themed experience. The train not only provides transportation from park to park but also presents two different “stories” for passengers to enjoy on their routes.
The Hogwarts Express travels from King’s Cross Station (in Universal Studios Florida) to Hogsmeade Station (in Islands of Adventure), as seen in the books and movies, and from Hogsmeade to King’s Cross. As you travel from one platform to the other, you will see a number of Harry Potter characters make appearances, including the fabled trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione and a sneak attack by the chilling Dementors.
Muggle Reminder: Requires a park-to-park theme-park ticket to ride. As Hagrid would say, stick to your Ticket Harry!
News of this unscheduled refurbishment for the Hogwarts Express will be disappointing for guests who have plans to visit Universal Orlando Resort during this time. We hope that the Hogwarts Express will be up and running again, however no reopening date has been given.
