Super Nintendo World Coming to Universal Hollywood Next Year
This is exciting new for Universal! Universal Studios Hollywood announced Thursday that the first U.S. theme park built around characters from the Nintendo video game universe will open outside of Los Angeles next year.
Super Nintendo World will be a new expansion of the Universal park that features the Super Mario characters like Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach. Universal also stated that guest can look forward to “groundbreaking rides and interactive areas” along with themed shopping and food.
The first Super Nintendo World opened in March 2021 at Universal Studios Japan. Super Nintendo World Japan offers real-life Mario Kart racing and a treasure hunt with Yoshi. Visitors can walk through a tunnels decorated as a green “warp pipe” and into a world featuring life-size coins, blocks and bad guys like Goombas and Piranha Plants. We predict that will see similar immersive features in the LA Super Nintendo World as well.
This is not the only exciting news coming from Universal Studios. Universal Orlando Resort has announced that an entire new theme park will be opening in 2025, Universal’s Epic Universe.
Epic Universe will be the largest Universal park in the US (and second globally, just behind the upcoming Universal Studios Beijing) and will house at least three big intellectual properties: entries from DreamWorks Animation, Illumination, and Nintendo, which will anchor the whole theme park. So if you’re no able to visit the the Universal Hollywood, don’t worry. You’ll have the chance to visit Nintendo in a few years when Epic Universe opens.
