Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Closing for Lengthy Refurbishment

This iconic 24-year-old roller coaster at Disney's Hollywood Studios is gearing up for a rockin' refurbishment starting January 8th, 2024, and lasting through the summer- opening date test to be announced. If this news gives you a sense of déjà vu, you're not mistaken – the coaster was shuttered last year for a few months, attempting to address some reliability gremlins.
When the coaster roared back to life, it brought with it a blast from the past – vibrant sets and the ever-familiar Aerosmith theme that has been the ride's hallmark since its grand opening in 1999. Alas, it seems the reliability issues are proving to be quite the encore, with the coaster experiencing daily downtime. Disney is tight-lipped about the specific fixes planned during this refurbishment. As for now it appears the closure is just for refurbishments.

Adding a dash of intrigue to the mix, back in June 2023, Jeff Yorkes, co-creator of the Disney+ series "The Muppets Mayhem," spilled the beans that the original pitch for the show included a wild idea – a Muppet-infused makeover for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster. However, it seems the Muppets Mayhem got a little too chaotic, as reports suggest the show has been canceled after just one season. Does this spell the end of Muppets jamming out in the studio anytime soon? Only time will tell.
