Mandate Lifted: Masks No Longer Required on Planes

There have been quite a few changes with mask policies in regards to the COVID-19 pandemic, with updates at Disney World, Disneyland, Universal Orlando, and Universal Hollywood. Like always we want to update you on any changes that will affect your vacation. And we have some big news!

As you maybe aware, a mask mandate has been in place for anyone traveling on public transportation in the United States, including flights. As of today this mandate has been lifted!

The mask mandate on public transportation was actually extended recently, but then a federal judge in Florida ruled that the mandate was unlawful. Up until now, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has enforced a mask mandate requiring all travelers to wear a mask on public transportation, including on airplanes, at airports, on buses and trains, and more. After extending the mandate deadline several times, today is when things change for travelers.

So as of today, people will no longer be required to wear a face mask in airports, on airplanes, or on other public transportation vehicles. I know this is good news for those traveling with small ones that do not want to wear their mask the entire flight.

This change comes as COVID-19 cases decline and recently being downgraded to a low risk level, as designated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If you’re not comfortable with traveling without a make as of yet, you’re still able to wear your mask during your flight. Even though the mandate has been lifted the CDC still recommends that people wear masks on public transit.
